Weightloss Journey: 80 Pounds Down

Scott through his 80 weightloss journey.

What do you do when you are 50 and need to lose 100 pounds? You join a gym. Chances are if you got past the headline you are interested in losing weight or helping someone else who needs to. This is typically what people do. They join a gym.

Seems like the right answer doesn’t it? The solution. This will fix it.

What I learned is what you might discover and that is that being in the gym is a step in the right direction but what do you do when you get there? How do you rewire your life to GET THERE regularly? How can you get FAST results and SUSTAIN them?

Here are 5 ideas that helped me lose 80 pounds in one year:

1. Don’t do it alone. Get a coach.

Find a mentor/coach who can assess what you and your body need to do to get where you want to go. They can get you a plan.

2. You can’t do it alone. Get accountability with others.

Join a team, a Facebook group, get some friends together, share your goals and check in with each other.

3. Plan at night.

30 min before bed plan your workout for the next day, set out your gym clothes and get your meals planned / lunch packed. This sets your intention and gets your mind and body ready for the next day.

4. Own the morning

Get to the gym first thing. I don’t even check my phone before I go. That way nothing can interrupt your mind or your plan to get there.

5. Commit to the process

Stick to your plan for 3 months, then evaluate. Don’t change anything for at least 3 months.

My coach suggested I work out one day, and walk the next. This puts me in the gym 3 or 4 days a week (because I like to walk outside). He gave me a 2000-calorie plan. I joined a telegram chat and a Facebook group where I posted my results daily. I followed the program 90% of the time and lost 80 pounds.

It’s simple, but not easy and takes time. But YOU and YOUR health are worth it. Talk to the knowledgeable staff at Athletic Kulture. They will put you on the path to reaching your goals. If I can do it, anyone can.
